KERN RICHARDS ONLINE MERCH AND GUITAR STRAPS

I'm a singer-songwriter based in Southern California. Here you'll find my music, t-shirts, other tour merchandise, and my custom guitar straps for purchase.

Music Bio

With his Tom Waits-like gravel voice and Johnny Cash style, Kern Richards speaks to the Country Western traditional audience as well as to the rocker in us all. His songs of heartbreak, loneliness and dissolution are sung by a master storyteller with a unique sense of humor, irony and warmth.

A native of Southern California, Kern started his solo musical career at the world-famous Palomino Club in North Hollywood, and has performed at venues including the legendary Milestone, Ronnie Mack’s Barn Dance, The Cinema Bar, The Blue Cafe in Long Beach, The Claremont Folk Center, The Fret House, Healdsburg Performing Arts Center and has toured throughout the U.S.

Kern performs his style of Americana/Roots music as a solo act, and also backed by his prestigious band mates. He has shared the stage with a diverse range of top performers including American Folk Legend Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, L.A. Bluesman Top Jimmy, Dave Alvin (The Guilty Men, The Blasters, X), I See Hawks in L.A., Western soul artists the Hacienda Brothers, Flea, songwriter Chris Gaffney, and songwriter/producer Stevie Tombstone, among many others.

Kern's LP "Anywhere But Home," released by Austin's ALTCO Recordings along with the single and video of "10 More Miles" both have garnered solid reviews in publications such as NO DEPRESSION magazine, and radio airplay nationally as well as in Europe.

"Where Tom Waits' drawl and Leonard Cohen's lullaby echoes overlap... heartfelt, underbelly Americana."

Kern Richards

Singer/Songwriter

My family owned a leatherworking shop in Southern California when I was a kid. I worked there creating custom leather goods while I was growing up, and I learned a few things in the shop.

While out on tour, I became unsatisfied with the mass produced version of the guitar straps I was using. So, when I got back home I made a few for myself. My guitar straps gained a bit of popularity, so I started making them for my friends and fellow musicians.
